Making Magic

I love to entertain, so it was such a treat to recently co-host a birthday luncheon with my neighbor and dear friend, Brenda. We both love throwing parties and enjoy all parts of the planning process: from picking the color theme to crafting the menu. When it comes down to details, she and I complement each other's "nitpicking-until-things-are-perfect" tendencies, and we have so much fun creating something beautiful together.
There was no question about where to host other than Brenda's beautifully shaded, wisteria-covered patio. So like many times over the years, we hauled outdoor furniture over from my house, combined our favorite china, and ironed out the linens, creating the perfect setting for 20 ladies to gather for lunch and laughter.
For the meal, we chose a Mediterranean theme including yogurt and herb marinated grilled chicken, pine nut and current studded couscous, grilled asparagus and a big mixed green salad with feta.
I love including fun sauces for extra flavor, so we added a lemony-olive vinaigrette plus a creamy tzatziki to dollop on whatever you liked!
Sending each guest home with a little scented joy was a fun way to wrap up the gathering. We chose Bella, a beautiful rich floral; perfect for summer. And it had a perfectly-matching plum colored design to boot!
Here's to the return of entertaining and all the joy that comes with planning the magic!
